DO I STILL NEED INSURANCE?

Insurance is not required to become a member. Membership includes unlimited visits and no additional copays. Our practice will also have affordable cash pay options for labs and radiology as well.

We will also provide patients with cash cost of various specialist visits upon request. However, we do recommend some type of insurance coverage for those rare but expensive ER visits and/or Hospitalizations

WHAT SETS US APART FROM TRADITIONAL MEDICAL PRACTICES?

Journey to Wellness is patient focused, patient driven, convenient, and transparent. Becoming a member means no rushed appointments allowing for more meaningful visits and superior care.

Direct primary care model allows restoration of decision-making control by working for the patient and only the patient without any borders, restrictions, or interference by health insurers.  

WHAT SERVICES DOES THE MEMBERSHIP NOT COVER?

Our membership does not include non-routine lab work, radiological tests, ER visits, or hospitalizations. In office medications such as weight loss medications and hormones will not be covered. Certain procedures such as biopsies/pathology and aesthetic procedures are not covered under the membership.

However, as a member, you will receive special membership pricing privileges for all items not covered. You will also have office pricing for labs and radiological examinations. This is in order to keep the membership fees affordable. We will have transparent pricing for everything we have to offer in the office. 

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SHAWN GOES ON VACATION?

When Shawn takes vacation, she would firstly notify her patients ahead of time so most needs are addressed prior to leaving. During vacation she will still be available by phone, text and email for urgent issues. RN will manage non-acute concerns and refill requests. 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO GO TO A SPECIALIST OR HOSPITAL?

Having such unprecedented direct access to your provider can prevent hospitalizations and specialty referrals in many cases.  At Journey to Wellness, we use a wide variety of tools to help you with any diagnosis, however when those types of care are required, we will certainly continue to work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay as well as work closely with any specialist.

In instances requiring specialty services outside the scope of primary care, we can help you arrange direct care through local specialists or make referrals to utilize your insurance. For this reason, we do encourage you to obtain and/or sustain your insurance, as Paradigm is not considered a health insurance plan.

ABOUT JOURNEY TO WELLNESS PRIMARY CARE

Meet Shawn Wells, BS, MSN, ARNP

She is a board certified autonomous nurse practitioner with 18 years of nursing experience. She started her career in critical care, believing that caring for the family of the patient is just as important as treating the individual patient.

 

She enjoys teaching her patients lifestyle and dietary changes to prevent and facilitate treatment of obesity, diabetes, cholesterol and many other diagnosis.
